Silverberg's running operations to obtain the power and other resources required to keep the base up and running. Someone else has suggested rerouting power from the VR simulation room to give the Transporter a boost, but I think our best option would be shutting that thing down. More people, more non-combatants are getting pulled into the situation, which means more mouths to feed. We're living supply run to supply run as we can't impose a rations restriction on food, water, and even supplies like soap and toothpaste, but we can't convince everyone to not burn our resources so quickly. Most of these people plain don't know how to survive on their own.

You might not be an astronaut anymore, but you know clearly know enough on what we'll need to keep everyone alive and maybe how to keep the base functioning.

We've also got Han Solo. [ When all else fails, turn to Star Wars? ]

I need to know if you've got a space suit, if you know anyone who does, or if there are plans to obtain one. With the possibility of a rover out there, someone or a small scouting team that's capable needs to head out and survey the land to ensure we're alone for the time being.

Well as it happens, I might have a couple of answers to your problems. Though I think you're never going to get that thing shut down. Morale is bad as it is; people are going to revolt if you take away the one thing that might provide them with some kind of relief or comfort, and that's just the way it's going to be. I can tell you everything here is beyond outdated; it'd make everybody's job easier if we could actually get some kind of engineer in here. And I know some, except they're not around, and I don't know the craft well enough to give it a shot myself.

Before I go dumping explanations and plans on you, 'cause I can go forever, can we get a formal introduction in here? No offense, I just like definitively knowing who I'm working with, it makes it so much easier if I don't accidentally call you by the name you hate or something through hearsay.

Trust me, you're not doing too badly. You seem to at least have some idea, which is more than most people around here can say. And now I have more ideas than I did an hour ago.

Though if you don't mind my asking, how'd you get involved in all this stuff if you're not really a space person?
